Hello Everyone!!
Well, so I have decided to start a blog. Mainly because, as most of you know, I am REALLY bad about returning phone calls or keeping in touch. I really want to be better at keeping everyone that wants to be in the loop, up to date. However, I am not comfortable about posting really personal things happening in our lives on Facebook because we aren't as close to some of the people on our "friends" list. The purpose of this blog is to just keep our family and friends up to date with what's happening in our new lives in the great state of Nebraska. No pressure to follow along with this blog and I promise I won't write a new one every 10 minutes. I plan to update every couple of weeks depending on if there is anything worth writing about.
Where to start....well we are pretty much settled at our new house in La Vista, which is right on the outskirts of Omaha. This city really has everything we need and the people seem to be pretty nice. Except for the fact that everyone has been vomited on by University of Nebraska paraphernalia. Which can be pretty obnoxious if you are an Oklahoma fan. We love our new home so much. It has a terrific park and walking trail right outside our back yard. Jonas loves going for walks around here but unfortunately hasn't been able to go because it won't stop snowing. Right now we have about 6 or so inches accumulated on the ground. Brian went out and purchased a snow blower this morning. I guess he isn't as young as he used to be and shoveling the drive was just too much work. I can't say that I blame him.
Brian is really enjoying his new squadron and everyone in it. He got to fly for the first time last week and said it was pretty bad ass. They have stewardess' on the jet and he got served biscuits and gravy for breakfast that morning. Sounds awful, huh? :) He says it will probably be around a year before he will start to be on alert and leaving for missions. I can't say that I am thrilled about that but at least he won't be leaving me again for 4-5 month long deployments. Plus, he has to go to Miami twice a year for training and I get to go visit him. I definitely won't complain.
I, on the other hand, have been looking for employment since we got up here in November. Unfortunately, I have only had one interview and nothing came of that. I will admit that it is nice not having to get up and go to work. I spend my days just running errands and lately, hitting the gym. ( I know, it's weird). However, I am starting to get pretty bored. I miss having adult interaction and feeling like I have a purpose. Jonas, however, LOVES having me here all of the time. He is definitely my shadow. He is going to be lost when I do get a job.
We met with a fertility specialist back in December to discuss our options for trying to conceive. Unfortunately, both of the specialists that are here in Omaha pulled out of our network, so we have to drive to Des Moines. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive east of Omaha. It wouldn't be so bad except they are monitoring me closely for this next cycle and I have to drive up there this Wednesday, Saturday and next Monday and Wednesday for ultrasounds. DOUBLE SUCK! We are trying to stay positive but it's been a rough year. The best we can hope for is just making some positive progress. I probably won't address this issue again until a baby is actually coming out of my vagina or we have adopted a baby from Africa (kidding). I don't really like to talk about it but I know a lot of you have asked what was going on and what the latest is.
Other than that, it seems everyday is like Groundhog day. We are trying to break up the monotony by planning a trip back to Europe this spring or early summer. We are tossing around a combo trip to England, France and Scotland or a trip to Greece. In all reality, I don't give a rat's a$$ as long as I am on a plane.
So, that's our lives at the moment. As I said, I will only update this if there is something worth updating. I am not going to inform everyone of my last BM or that I cooked dinner last night. We miss all of you very much and hope everyone is in great health and spirits. Cheers to a new year and new changes!!! Stay warm everyone!
